Dr Xiao Ouyang (National University Ireland, Cork) explores the idea of ‘global citizenship’ in terms of Chinese traditional philosophy and argues that despite the contemporary discourse on this concept and its notable Western philosophical origin, ‘global citizenship’ can also find sufficient intellectual inspiration and explanatory strength from a non-Western thinking tradition. The student-led Ustinov Annual Conference 2016 took place 2 July 2016 at Ustinov College, Durham University, on the theme ‘Establishing the Global Citizen: Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Global Citizenship’.
